President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred the Order of Sikatuna to outgoing Lao People’s Democratic Republic Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune, on his farewell call at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace.
The citation recognizes ‘his meritorious contributions in further strengthening the relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic; his commitment efforts in further intensifying cooperation between the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Philippines to advance peace, progress and prosperity in our countries and in our region; for his vital role in the successful convening of the inaugural Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation Meeting; and, for helping bring closer the people of the Philippines and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in greater friendship, understanding and mutual respect.’
The President was joined in the conferment ceremony by Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, DFA Assistant Secretary Millicent Cruz Paredes, DFA-Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs (ASPAC) Executive Director Jose Ignacio, and DFA-ASPAC Director Bryan Baguio.
