President Rodrigo Roa Duterte endorsed the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial and guest candidates before thousands of Ilocano supporters at the Cagayan Sports Complex in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

In his opening remarks, President Duterte underscored the vital role of establishing law and order in the progress and development of the Philippines.

Likewise, he emphasized that putting an end to corruption within government offices would greatly contribute to the country’s growth.

“One is we will never develop, we will never progress until we have the law and order. And second, ‘pag hindi nahinto itong corruption sa gobyerno — you can give any President any number of terms — maybe 10 terms, times three ‘yan, and still if you cannot improve on these two things, forget about giving our children a better deal than what our parents are giving us,” the President stated, citing further that establishing law and order starts in Mindanao.

“Alam mo whether you like it — me or not — ito tandaan lang ninyo, puro tayo Pilipino, if you want a country that is in parity — tabla — or at par with other nations in development, I don’t think that it would be possible if there are no changes in the horizon of the country,” he added.

President Duterte stressed that there is no need to express or display gratitude towards public service and achievements, as it is his obligation to do so in the first place.

“I do not serve the rich. I am a worker of government and I work for the people, period. Kaya pagkatapos ng linis, sabi nila malinis na, tapos sabi punta ako. Nasa Maynila pa ako, ‘Welcome President Duterte. Salamat po, Pangulo,” the Chief Executive said.

Serving as a closure to his speech, President Duterte praised the political party’s senatorial aspirants for their vast political experience and genuine concern for public service.
