Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) Miting de Avance
Philippine Institute of Sports (PhilSports) Multi-Purpose Arena, Pasig City
May 11, 2019
Culminating the last day of the campaign period, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte showed his support for the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial and guest candidates in their miting de avance at the Philippine Institute of Sports (PhilSports) Multi-Purpose Arena in Pasig City.
For the last time, prior to his speech, President Duterte raised the hands of the PDP-Laban candidates before the thousands of supporters who flocked to the arena.
“Now more than ever, the Filipino nation needs us to chart a course of its future. Let us not waste this chance to shape and secure the future of the Filipino now. Thank you at mabuhay ang PDP Laban,” the President said.
Moreover, he spelled out anew the implications of the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country, particularly to Filipino families.
“Ganito ‘yan eh. ‘Pag ang isang pamilya, the breadwinner, ang tatay ‘pag bumagsak ‘yan sa droga, the entire family is dysfunctional already. Wala na. Mag-away-away na sa asawa o ipagbili na niya ‘yung mga bagay-bagay niya hanggang maubos. Or his son is into it or a daughter is contaminated with drugs. Magulo na ang buhay na ‘yan at it ends really in violence. Mamatay,” he said.
President Duterte also talked on the country’s lack of law and order that hinders the Filipinos from having a progressive nation. According to him, the Filipino people must practice law and order first before aspiring for a nation that is safe and secure.
“Law and order… And if the Filipino would be assertive, wala talagang problema. That we must be freed of corruption in government. ‘Pag wala na ‘yang dalawa, kalimutan ninyo, we might as well forget what we are really trying to toil, work on sa bayan na ito,” he added.
The miting de avance caped off the campaigning activities of the PDP-Laban political aspirants for the upcoming election on May 13, 2019.
